Meta Ray-Ban Display web apps

I explored how Meta’s Ray-Ban Display glasses could grow beyond first-party software through useful, glass-native third-party experiences. The work focused on shaping partner opportunities around the hardware’s distinctive strengths: hands-free interaction, first-person context, and lightweight visual guidance.

Meta’s ecosystem needed meaningful third-party experiences that would help owners return to the glasses beyond messaging, media, and basic utilities.

The challenge

The challenge

The glasses had limited third-party support, while every partnership required bespoke business and legal agreements. The task was to find experiences compelling enough to drive retention and credible enough to take into partner conversations.

The concepts brought ecosystem strategy, product constraints, and partner value into a shared language—making each direction concrete enough to evaluate, refine, and present.

Three types of third-party experiences

I participated in a focused design sprint with the ecosystem and partnerships teams, translating glass-native strengths into partner archetypes that could be evaluated through tangible use cases.

Concierge

Concierge

Hands-free service, right when it matters.

POV

POV

Share moments with your community.

Guide

Guide

Guidance that keeps people present.

CONCIERGE · Make the next useful action effortless

Starbucks Concierge interaction concept

Concierge explored how the glasses could surface a relevant service without demanding a screen-first interaction. In the Starbucks direction, a wearer could discover nearby pickup options, act on a familiar preference, and stay present in their environment.

Partner value: turn an existing service moment into a lightweight, hands-free touchpoint.

POV · Bring a first-person perspective into shared spaces.

Discord POV interaction concept

POV considered how the glasses could contribute a uniquely personal point of view to apps built around community. The Discord concept focused on quick, glanceable participation—giving friends a way to share what they see or join a moment without interrupting it.

Partner value: extend familiar communities into a more immediate, real-world layer of participation.

GUIDE · Guide people without taking them out of the moment.

Outsidelands Guide interaction concept

Guide reframed the display as a subtle layer of orientation: an experience that can help someone find a stage, understand an event schedule, or follow a sequence of instructions without turning the glasses into a phone replacement.

Partner value: make complex physical spaces easier to navigate with context that appears exactly when it matters.

Each prospective partner has been contacted, and partnership agreements are now being discussed. The next phase is to develop the strongest concepts into repeatable design patterns for the glasses ecosystem.
